50 First Dates
This film is a comedy about a Hawaiian veterinarian, Henry, played by Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore, Punch Drunk Love) who falls for Lucy, played by Drew Barrymore (Riding in Cars with Boys, Charlie's Angels). This movie also stars Rob Schneider, who finds a sidekick role in many of Sandler's films.
Critical to the film, Lucy suffers from short term memory loss, leaving Henry to win her over daily, hence the title. With a Valentine's season release, this film is set to capitalize on the holiday, as the biggest romantic comedy of the momment. 50 First Dates strives to match the success of The Wedding Singer, which also cast Sandler and Barrymore as the romantic leads.
Although it is a step backward from the dramatic roles executed by Sandler and Barrymore in Punch Drunk Love and Riding in Cars with Boys respectively, the laughs are what Sandler does best.
