Hidalgo
Hidalgo Review Formula = Indiana Jones + The War On Terror
Hidalgo is an action adventure movie based on the true story of Frank T. Hopkins. Who? Yeah, the horse was named Hidalgo - kind of like another horse movie of late where the jockey's fame is overshadowed by his horse, Seabiscut.
Don't expect to see any jockeys in this race; Hidalgo isn't about a quick spin around the track. The movie covers a 3,000 mile race across the Arabian Desert set in the late 1800s. Mr. Hopkins isn't exactly Arabian, and neither is his half breed horse, which makes the pair heavy underdogs. Hopkins, a veteran of the Pony Express, is played by the now internationally famous Viggo Mortensen, who made his mark on the movie world in the Lord of The Rings films.
Pride becomes a factor, as the locals are quite determined to see that Hidalgo and Hopkins do not finish the race alive. It's funny how the setting of Hidalgo reflects the times, the American invades the Middle East...remember little Rocky Balboa, the underdog, going to the tundra of Russia to fight the impossibly strong Ivan Drago during the cold war?

I heard he bought the horse after finishing the movie. You think Tobey Maguire bought Seabiscuit?

Want to see the movie though.
