Scooby Doo 2
Scooby Doo 2 Review Formula = Ghostbusters + The Cartoon Classic Scooby Doo
Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed is a sequel to the 2002 release, Scooby Doo. Given that the standard sequel never lives up to the original, Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed doesn't have far to go.
No one went to see the first Scooby Doo for the mystery of the story, let's get that straight. Everyone who's ever seen an episode of the cartoon knows exactly how it ends. Come on, every episode ends the same way. People went because Matthew Lillard does an unbelievable Shaggy voice. They went because it was the best film-meets-animation project since Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Then there are the select opposite sex super fans who go to see everything with Sarah Michelle Gellar or Freddie Prinze Jr.
If you fit any one of these three categories, you won't be let down by the sequel.
Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed has all the same stars as the first: Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini, with new additions Seth Green and Alicia Silverstone. Raja Gosnell directed both, so you can expect the same flavor.
But just for the record, the movie's about four kids, a dog, a news reporter, a museum curator, and a bunch of ghosts - but you probably could have guessed that on your own.
