The Punisher

The Punisher Review Formula = Hellboy + Less Makeup + Swordfish

It seems that the movie attending world isn't getting tired of comics turned feature films, so by logic the Punisher would come next. After all, the rest of the big names have been done. Question #1 is why release it right between Hellboy and right around the corner from Spiderman 2?

The PunisherMore interesting is question #2: why is John Travolta always cast as a bad guy? Seriously, Broken Arrow, Swordfish, Battlefield Earth, Face Off, and now the Punisher. Well, allow our friends at the closely affiliated Box Office Shit-Talker to step in and cover this one. See the italicized text below.

It's not his acting skill. Mr. Travolta is a member of Scientology, which is by many accounts a very scary thing. Also scary is that Battlefield Earth was written by the founder of Scientology, Mr. Hubbard.

One day after school my Sophomore year of high school, I went downtown as usual to Boston's Newbury Street. I used to spend some good time there, and this guy on the same corner would always hand out fliers and bug me to go see this film. As I used to distribute fliers myself, I'd engage the guy a bit, and finally conceded, "If I go see this 15 minute movie, I don't ever have to be bothered again, right?"

Big mistake. True, I was never bothered again, but that was in great part because I gave fake information, the name and address of a childhood playmate. The video had a strong agenda and frankly scared the shit out of me.

Thanks, Box Office Shit-Talker. Sorry, back to The Punisher. Yeah, please let us all know if it was any good and write a review below. Thank you.

P.S. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos is now single, not sure if she's dropping the -Stamos.
